For IR 2, Trans Mountain submitted the General Construction Notification for work to be conducted on Spread 7 of the TMEP project. In addtion, the company submitted the list of Indigenous communities contacted for Spread 7, and a record of the email correspondence specific to potential harveting activities on the contruction site adjacent to the Fraser River.  The construction dates provided to Indigenous communities may no longer be accurate.

  • Pipe will be installed through the golf course, then under the wetland and a row of sequoia trees that mark the original boundary of the heritage property
  • Bore will be approximately 500 m and will include a road and a railway crossing
  • The TM-IM that participated in the CVA has reviewed the Environmental Field Guide for Culturally Modified Trees (EFG-CMT) and does not have any concerns with the procedures
  • The was an environmental field guide about culturally modified trees (EFG-CMT's) developed by an expert and TM personal shared how the information has been communicated to the workforce
  • The IAMC IMs recommend further communication with the IAMC IMs regarding the EFG-CMT’s

  • Land acknowledgment provided by IAMC Indigenous Monitor from the Katzie First Nation
  • STÓ:LÖ-1363, KP 1166.14 to 1166.18 TLU site adjacent to the work site.  A sign is in place with this information for protection of the site
  • TLU-51, KP 1166.43 to 64 plant gathering site adjacent to the work site.  A sign is in place with this information for protection of the site
  • Disturbed sites adjacent to the worksite have been seeded, and Trans Mountain will provide the documentation to confirm the correct seed mix has been used and is weed free
  • Security fencing and wooden matting in place for the work area
  • Noise control fencing in place to reduce impact on residents located across the highway from the work site
  • Watercourse BC-777b adjacent to the work site with flagging and sign in place for protection. Sediment fencing in place and installed to protect the watercourse.
  • A lot of soil material was transported off site in order to construct the entry pad for the HDD.  The soil was tested for contaminants and transported to a location authorized to receive the contamination – general characterization would be hydrocarbons and metals
  • Observed location where small stand of trees (alder) were cut to construct the work site

This condition includes a  commitment to reporting discovered contamination to the CER (Section 6.3) according to the Remediation Process Guide. a) the remediation # generated for the site from the CERs Online Event Reporting System (e.g., REM2021-050); or
b) provide the date by which the CER can expect to see this contaminated site reported via a Notice of Contamination

  • Reviewed the procedure for designating nesting bird buffers with the TM-Environmental Inspector (EI): accountabilities and mitigation measures
  • STÓ:LÖ-1614, KP 1174.61 to 1174.64 TLU site adjacent to the work area, and sign in place for protection
  • Flagging and sign in place for a nesting bird location adjacent to parking lot and next to railway.
  • Nesting bird sign ID SOSP-95-11 (nesting songbird) KP 1174.59: June 1, foot traffic only, no machine zone, work outside of delineated buffers, require fulltime monitoring by WRS.
  • At approximately 12:15, a TMC contracted security person approached the EI and the IO to ask a series of questions about what the purpose of the nesting bird signage and flagging tape was, and what his accountability was for restricting access. The company has been requested to provide information regarding training and accountability for security personal for CPW 95 via IR 3
