Project / Company (optional) – Select a Project or Company by entering any part of its name. Once you have selected a Project or Company, all the below search criteria selected will be looking at information contained within the selected project or company only. If you want to search for information in multiple projects or companies, leave this blank.

Advanced Keyword(s) Search (optional) – This can be used alone or in conjunction with the other search criteria on this page. Here you can use the Boolean operators AND and OR by typing them into the field along with your keywords.

To illustrate the effect of choosing All Words, Any Words or Exact Phrase on your keyword(s) search, we will use the example archaeological impact assessment as the keywords being searched.

Look For options:

• All Words (about 4100) – this option will return documents that must contain all of the keywords entered, but they can appear individually anywhere in the document, i.e. not together like a phrase. Using our example, archaeological impact assessment, you will receive documents that contain each of the three words anywhere in the document and not necessarily together.
• Any Words (about 47,000) – this option will return documents that contain one or more of the keywords entered. Using our example, archaeological impact assessment, you will receive documents that contain just the word “archaeological” and documents that contain just the word “impact” and documents that contain just the word “assessment” and documents that contain 2 of the words and documents that all 3 of the words, but not necessarily together. This option will return the most search results of the three options.
• Exact Phrase (about 730) – this option will return documents that contain all the keywords entered in the order in which they were entered, as in a phrase. For example, if you entered the words “archaeological impact assessment”, the search would result in documents that contained that exact phrase. This option will yield the least amount of search results, compared to Any Words or All Words.
• Note that REGDOCS uses the Exact Phrase option as its default search when you are using the search bar on any of the other web pages and when you click on Alternate Results you will be presented with documents that are like the “All Words” option above.

Modifier options:

• None
• Sounds Like: use this if you are not sure of the spelling. Example: Ikuma/Ikkuma

Within options:

• All – this option will search in both document’s metadata (title, date, submitter, document type, etc) and the content of all documents.
• Content – this option will search only the content of documents and excludes the metatdata
• Metadata – Metadata refers to attributes associated to documents such as the Document Type (Certificate, Order, Application, etc.), the Application Type (s.58, Tolls & Tariffs etc.), the Submitter, Role or File Type, as well as other metadata. This option will search only the metadata of documents and excludes the document content.

Date (optional). Use to narrow search results to specific dates or date ranges.

Category (optional). Select values from any combination of the five categories. These are similar to the filters you see on other web pages in REGDOCS. For Advanced Search, you can make multiple selections from each category. If you have picked a specific Project or Company above, only the categories that have matching options within the Project or Company selected will be shown.
